The Dr. N. Lee Morris Gallery presents Pieces, a solo exhibition by Elizabeth Raye Odom, which runs through September 29, 2016. The public is invited to an artist reception and opening on Tuesday, September 6 at 6:00 p.m. in the gallery. Admission is free and light refreshments will be provided.
Odom holds a B.S. in art education from Francis Marion University and teaches fine arts at South Florence High School. She has exhibited work at the Art Trail Gallery (Florence, SC), Jones Carter Gallery (Lake City, SC), The Curtis R. Harley Gallery at The University of South Carolina Upstate (Spartanburg, SC), and the former Railroad Junction Art Gallery in Florence.
The works are based on ties to the artist’s childhood. The diptych collages are an expression of the jigsaw puzzles that she created during childhood with her maternal grandmother. The coastal themed paintings are an illustration of her childhood spent on the beach with her paternal grandmother. Pieces is an artistic statement that represents how fragments of a child’s experience shape the person he or she becomes.
This exhibition is made possible through funding from the Florence Regional Arts Alliance’s Quarterly Grants funding. The Morris Gallery is located on the second floor of the Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library in Florence. For more information, please call (843) 413-7070.
